December is a month to celebrate for us. WDyR? Is one year old! What started last fall as a calendar idea, transformed and emerged as a resource for people like me who belong to a bookclub.
I do love the calendar photos of people reading in all the usual places. Reading for work, for knowledge, for pleasure or for growth. Reading alone or in classrooms and groups. Reading for the experience of new places and the delight in meeting new people.
The site has undergone a few changes, like adding the discussion question list, but the main purpose and continued focus remains the same: to help with communication among bookclub members and provide a place to store personal club information for all (and only) members to access.
The other day I saw a preview for an upcoming movie; "The Reader" . I remember reading that fascinating book with my club. Looking back on my history page I see it was in 2000. Our club's reading list goes back to 1998 and they are all on my private club page right here! (This month our selection is "The Elegance of the Hedgehog" by Muriel Barbery.)
So I want to thank all you members who have found this site to be a useful tool for your clubs. And I encourage you to send us any ideas that would help you even more. And to those exploring us for the first time, I hope you'll give it a try, it's easy and of course always free.
